Posted:I am Servicing an old model RST CAPA CL Suspension fork. There is a paper sleeve on both springs that slide into the stanchions. Wondering what the paper sleeve is made of?? It looks to be some sort of construction paper but cant be sure.Looking to replace the original paper but am not sure of the material. Any suggestions???
The purpose of the paper is to provide a bushing so there is no metal to metal contact.The other option is to get some heat shrink and slide that over the springs.PLEASE ADVISE. As mentioned you could plastic shrink-wrap dip the coils to achieve the same effect (and back in the mid-90s, several aftermarket fork spring makers did just that).
