Hello,I have a A-777 Pioneer amplifier and recently it has become very slow, like in several minutes, to power up. When it was working ok, it used to take a second or so before one could hear a relay click, and then the amp powered up.As a temporary cure for this inconvenience I've been keeping it powered up all the time. But I would really like to mend my amp.So here are my questions:Has anybody had any experience with a similar problem?I searched the Pioneer database here but didn't find anything on A-777. Does anyone have a schematic or a maintenance manual?I'll be posting the users manuals on the A-777, CT777 and PD-8700 as didn't find them here on the forum. Thanks in advance.Super7. Sounds to me like the Speaker Protection circuit is slow to turn off the protection circuitry.

My first suggestion is to use a voltmeter and measure the DC level right at the output section of the main amp board before the Relays for the A and B speaker selection. You'll need a schematic to find this location. If the DC voltage is high or flucuating when you first turn the power on, you got a problem.

It should by very low, like.025 volts or less I believe. Anything above that will cause the protection circuits to trip.As for fixing it, it could just be that the circuit board for the Amp just needs to have the solder connections touched up. The thermal stress of hot and cold cycles after 17 years of service can cause the connections to become flaky. I had this same problem with my M-91. The best you can do is to remove the old solder at each joint one by one and resolder, or just reheat and add a touch of fresh solder to each joint.

I do a little of both as long as the results look clean in the end.- Mike.
