Strike Fighters 2 Planes
Hello chaps!I've always wanted to try a full-blown jet combat flight sim. I love the new jets in BAT, but of course they still lack the HUDs, cockpits, and missile systems that they had in real life. DCS is too expensive, and has far too little content and scope for me. Electronic workbench multisim portable.
War Thunder doesn't count. I've heard a lot of good things about Strike Fighters 2. Like that it is intuitive, and modable.
In other words, it seems more like IL-2 1946 than an arcade style game.Does anyone here have input/opinions they'd like to share on SF2 from their experiences?Also, where on earth can I buy it? I can't find it on Amazon, Ebay, or even the developer's site!(My PC specs are below, should be no issue )Thanks. Highly recommended combat flight sim 'lite'. Great accessible game play, happy medium between arcade and full flight sim. Great aircraft, weapon and vehicle models. Great 60s era cockpits. 60s/70s avionics modeled in a fairly simple but easily accessible way, BVR and IR missile duels are great fun.
Player flight models are OK, AI flight models are a bit over-simplified IMHO. Terrains don't compare to IL-2 but they get the job done. Mission builder is semi-automated and really easy to use, but doesn't have the level of detail found in IL-2 FMB.
Campaigns are great fun and the best way to play the game IMHO. Been enjoying this model tonite. F-104G cut-out from the Starfighter SuperMegaPack at CombatACE, lightly modded and optimized for my own SF2 Europe install. Tonite it got the correct Doppellasttr채ger (Twin Store Carrier) from the AlphaJet model, and (my choice of) twin Matra Type-116M rocket pods with 68mm SNEB rockets from expert modder Ravenclaw007's 68mm rocket launcher pack. LAU-51 rocket pods seem to be more accurate (historically-wise) but I like the idea of the Matra pods and they look good!
Re-positioned the ejection seat and pilot models for a better external cockpit appearance, and in the process of combining the Aufkl채rungsgeschwadern and Marinefliegergeschwadern mission profiles into this one model so I can fly the whole range of missions in a single campaign (which is just a personal preference, separate models for each version are available too).Had a fun close-support mission and dogfight with a couple MiG-27 Floggers to wrap up the evening's modding. This is definitely one of my favorite mod planes to play.All the bestKB. That's an important question Cap.
Strike Fighters Modern Combat
Dawson, I hadn't thought of it. I had all sorts of problems with a variety of software under Win10 and ended up reformatting and reinstalling Win7. (I also run dual-boot XP for some of my really old stuff!)From what I can tell on CombatACE, some guys have had no issues with Win10, but quite a few have had issues.
Strike Fighters hasn't been updated since 2013, and who knows what hardware everyone has. So I'd be cautious. Is dual-boot Win7 an option for you?I'm not aware of any demo versions, however this is from the Third Wire website.
